For Mexicans, remember their loved ones who have passed away is not a time of sadness, instead it is a time to celebrate life. During three days, Mexicans carry out traditions that make this a unique and worldwide famous event.

The Day of the Dead in Mexico is a very special date. It is believed that, at that time, the dead return to their hometowns to visit their loved ones and this is a real reason for celebration. Families prepare their homes with altars made with flowers, candles, incense and the favorite food of the deceased ones, so that they feel welcome.

Declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, this day is celebrated throughout Mexico on a tradition that has over 3000 years and it is believed to already be practiced by the Aztecs and Mayans. Despite the festivities commencing on October 31st, says the belief that on November 1st the children return and in the following day is the time for the adults to return. The expectation is great and gives place to a fun party with lots of food, music and parades where there are works of art created in masks and costumes of skulls.
