Well-guarded treasure until recently, today it shines among the most visited European destinations. Discover the city that gave its name to Portugal, famous for its wines, bridges, architecture and the genuineness of people, highly skilled in the art of hospitality.


Start by glimpsing a fabulous view of the city of Porto, going up to the Tower of the Clerics. Then walk through the Avenida dos Aliados, the heart of the city, enjoying its architectural details and go to the Rua de Santa Catarina, ideal for shopping. The S. Bento railway station, covered with tile panels, is a must see, as well as the Church of S. Francisco with its fabulous gilded woodcarvings, and the Porto Cathedral, one of the oldest monuments in the country. Scroll down to the Ribeira, ancient and colourful part of the city, walk through the Fernandina Wall and relax on a terrace by the river. Crossing the D. Luís Bridge, you will find the Caís de Gaia, where there are several restaurants with fabulous views over Porto. Be sure to visit the Caves of Port Wine and a cruise the Douro River.
 
Have a coffee in the luxurious Majestic and visit the famous Bolhão Market, where the most genuine people of Porto can be heard. Be amazed in the Lello Bookshop, one of the most beautiful in the world, and visit the Serralves Museum, the modern House of Music and the sumptuous Stock Exchange Palace. Go to Foz, scroll by foot or bike the nice Avenida do Brasil by the sea, and if the weather is warm be sure to take a dip! At night, there are several options such as the bars and clubs located in the cosmopolitan Paris Gallery. Be sure to stop in the famous pastries and try typical dishes like Francesinha or Tripas à moda do Porto.
